INTERNAL AND EXTERNAL ACADEMIC AND ADMINISTRATIVE AUDIT (AAA)

The College has mechanism for internal and external audit. Internal Committee for academic and administrative audit consists of Correspondent of the college representing management of the college, Principal, IQAC co-ordinator, a senior staff and Superintendent representing administrative staff. We have our own audit mechanism where internal audit is an ongoing continuous process and internal committee for academic and administrative audit verify and assess the academic performance and result of the college.  In addition to the internal auditing, the external auditors to verify and certify the entire activity of academic and finance related to the college. The external committee for academic and administrative audit includes renowned educationists, retired principals and professors in the field of commerce and arts, Ex-IQAC Co-ordinators and qualified chartered accountant. During financial year end, the accounting aspects of the college is verified and audited by qualified external auditors. Qualified internal auditors have been permanently appointed and a team of staff under them do thorough check and verification in each financial year.

External audit is also carried out on an elaborate way. Auditors deputed by the Government also visit the College every year to conduct the audit keeping in view the policies and orders issued by the Government from time to time

So far there have been no major objections raised by the auditor. Minor errors of omissions and commission when pointed out by the audit team are immediately corrected.

QUALITY INITIATIVE  — STUDY CIRCLE

Aim: “ Teaching    Counselling    Mentoring  and  Self-improvement”.

Objectives:                                                                                                                                                             

Sri Sharada college, Basrur is committed to promote and support effective learning and teaching. It will contribute to the development of a knowledge society through equitable access and involvement in learning process by the students. The knowledge delivery process and content will be reached to the students only through Teaching, Counselling and Mentoring .  For this quality enhancement objective, our college started Study Circle among the students. Faculty members enhance the nature of the teacher-student relationship by actively involved in Counselling, mentoring and self-improvement initiatives.

 Study Circles: Interaction process

Faculty members allocated with various subject assignments for the students. These faculty members are available to the students to solve the doubts relating to the subjects. At the beginning of the semester, this allocation should be made depending on the expertness of faculty in the subjects.

 Students’ Library and Information System

The Departmental Library Books and study materials are distributed for the students well in advance. The students are required to maintain record for these books and materials and circulate themselves on weekly basis. After completion of semester examinations in each semester, these books are returned to the HOD.

 Study Circle on on-line mode

 The E-books and PDF of materials are given through Google classrooms. All the question papers of all the semesters are given to the students through Google classroom at the beginning of the semester. In the Google classrooms all kinds of materials related to various subjects uploaded. The students can ask doubts directly commenting on the posts  and indulge in discussion regarding doubts in discussion 24/7.  All the question papers of the previous examinations with answers will be available in the classroom. The materials related to Bank and other competitive examinations are also provided through classroom.

  Study Circle- Process

This is outside classroom approach. All the students are bringing together for the purpose of upgrading their knowledge. In this platform college provides all the necessary tools to upgrade the learning process of the students.  Students who are lagging behind in studies should approach the concerned lecturers in person or on online mode requiring to conduct classes or to provide study materials of books. Weekly group discussions and interactions are scheduled for the students who are within the study circle.

 Study Circle- Evaluation

The total approach of Study Circle system is result oriented.  It is a process where slow learners are identified and through counselling and mentoring they are brought back to the track.

In this process, teachers required to develop teaching- learning relationship with the students and concentrate towards bringing 100% result. The main focus of this circle , no students remains deprived from the novel idea of learning and knowledge building.

 

ANTHARPRERANA – INCUBATION CENTRE FOR START-UP

OBJECTIVE

Presently,  India has rich demographic dividend in the form of large number of young population. India is called Young India and this benefit shall have to be optimally  utilized for the betterment of the nation. Entrepreneurship is such an important area where large number of youth population can be converted into productive population . The Government of India and Government of Karnataka are striving for the development of youth by bringing structured reforms in ease of doing business.  Start-up in India, Make in India, Stand-up India are the new initiatives brought up by Both Central Government and State Government to encourage young generation.

ABOUT THE CENTRE

Our College started ANTHARPRERANA- An Incubation Centre for start-up to cater the needs of our students who are belonging to rural area and making them an innovative entrepreneur.  Apart from educating them in this respect,  Start-up centre conducts field survey to encourage the students to undertake  research activities. Our college stared this centre to encourage the students and local youth so that they are equipped to become financial independent and to facilitate better quality of life and living standard.

FUTURE PLANS

  1. Arranging interactive programs by inviting successful entrepreneurs.
  2. Survey conducted on Agricultural produces specialized in local area and bringing brand image for them.
  3. Encouraging and motivating interested students to prepare projects related to their interested area.
  4. Efforts are made to develop research activities in Agro-entrepreneurship.
  5. Industry- Institute interaction programs are being planned and processed.

IQAC of our college headed by Professor Purushothama Balyaya , has taken initiative for Book and Research Publications, Students’ Projects, participations in seminars, workshops and symposiums. There are Departmental Book Banks earmarked for research purpose. During the current academic year, research committee encouraged to undertake book publications , article publications and paper presentations and there are 7 Research papers presentations in International seminars, 7 Research paper presentations in National Seminars and Publications in International and National Journals. There are 4 ISSN and 4 ISBN Research paper publications. There are three ISBN book publications. During the academic year 2019-2020 faculty participations are as follows:

  • AWARENESS FOR HIGHER EDUCATION: An Awareness Program on Higher Education – Opportunities in MBA was organised in collaboration  with MIT Institute, Moodlakatte on 08-01-2020.  Akash S. Department of  MBA was the  resource person. 140 students of Final Year B.Com attended the programme.
  • ROAD SAFETY AWARENESS PROGRAM: Road Safety  awareness program on  8th  January 2020  was organised  in  collaboration with  MIT Moodlukatte, Kundapura . Miss. Vijayalaxmi and Miss.  Sumayya, MBA students  who are alumni gave presented papers on road safety. Another Awareness program on road safety was organised by IQAC, NCC,NSS, Consumer awareness Cell, Red Cross wing on 14th January 2020 in collaboration with Rotary Club Thekkatte. Sri. Vishwanatha Nayak, RTO, Udupi District was the resource person. Prof. H Jagadish,  President, Rotary Club Thekkatte  was present. 130 students participated in this program.
  • SKILL DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM: A skill development and Career planning Program was organised in collaboration with Commerce Association, Career and Counselling cell and Unnathi Academy Udupi on 31-01-2020 for the final year students. This concentrated on imparting training for the  students in career planning, preparation for entrance examination, personality development, etc.  Jaideep from Unnathi Academy, Udupi was the resource person. 155 students of the final year degree courses were benefited.
  • CAPITAL MARKET AWARENESS PROGRAM.

IQAC and Commerce Association of our college jointly organised a Capital Market Awareness Program for Final Year B.Com students ( 120 students participated) on 12th  September 2019. The theme of this program is creating awareness in capital market with an overview of securities of market. BSE-IPF and Lotus Novels jointly organised this program. Mr. Ramachandra Bhat, Assistant Professor in Commerce MGM College Udupi was the resource person.

  • STUDENTS’ INITIATIVE PROGRAM ON JOB OPPORTUNITY AND COMPETITIVE EXAMINATION

Sharada U-Get is an initiative of the students to start their own training group to provide training to face upcoming challenges in the corporate world especially for placement. The two students of the Final B.Com A class named Mr. Chethan and Mr.Chandan trained in many  training and skill development programs in different colleges and institutions, imparted the same skills to the students of our college.

  • WORKSHOP ON JOB TRAINING

With the sponsorship of IQAC, Career Counseling Cell , Commerce Association and Sharada U-GET of our college organized a training program on job opportunity and competitive examinations. This session was organized in collaboration with Employment Exchange Office Udupi. Sri. Jagath, Employment Exchange Udupi, was the trainer. Selected 58 students enrolled for Employment Cards which are later on issued by the Employment Exchange.

 

Commerce Association:

The Commerce Association organized different awareness, skill development and training programmes under the guidance of Mr. Purushottham Balyaya as Coordinator.

Final year BA students have participated in one day students’ survey based research project  on ‘Mahathma Gandhi National Guarantee Employment Scheme: an Experience’ surveyed in the area of  Koni and Balkur Panchayat on 30-01-2020 and submitted a report. “History Day” was celebrated on  13th January 2020 and history students were taken to visit  historical places of Basrur as a part of celebration.

Plans of action for next academic year 2019-20

  1. Conducting National, State and Regional level seminars.

The college has planned to conduct National/ State level seminars and is actively seeking the collaboration of Mangalore University in this regard. A theme for state level seminar “Idea of Karnataka” is under review. It is proposed to contact many scholars from Karnataka state as resource persons, moderators etc.

  1. Conducting regional level workshops for the benefit of faculty as well as students.

The college has planned to conduct career-oriented workshops for the benefit of the students. It is proposed to contact institutions which provide coaching for competitive examinations.

  1. Encouraging research activities/ paper presentations/ publications by the faculty members.

The research committee of the college has planned to allocate books of the departmental libraries and research papers for the faculty members. They are motivated to attend seminars, present papers and publications.

  1. Encouraging the students to undertake small fieldwork-based research projects.

Research committee has planned to allocate seed money for each research project undertaken by students of various departments. It has also been planned to allocate faculty members as project guides for proposed project works.

  1. Encouraging more external participation of the students in workshops, seminars and competitions.

The college has planned to motivate the students to participate more and more in workshops, seminars and competitions. The concerned committee heads will have the responsibility of sending the students.

  1. Supporting Alumni Association for conducting intercollegiate cultural competition.

It is proposed to support the alumni activities of conducting intercollegiate cultural competitions by helping them with infrastructural facilities and guidance from principal and faculty members.

  1. Conducting blood donation camps and Health awareness camps.

It is planned to ask collaboration with Indian Red Cross Unit of Kundapura Tq, in this regard. NSS and NCC wings are also planning to jointly organize this event. It is also planned to conduct Health Awareness programs by collaborating with hospitals and health centers.

  1. Conducting environmental awareness/ civic awareness/ gender equity and people-centric programmes.

It is planned to conduct Swacch Bharat Abhiyan programme through awareness programmes and conducting rallies. It is also proposed to conduct Voter’s Day, Women’s Day, World AIDS Day, etc.

5.      Mr. Srivastava, Country Manager, Ascent Staffing Solutions Pvt Ltd imparted a recruitment training on 2 Aug 2018. Coaching classes for the preparation of bank exams, aptitude tests etc, were conducted by Ramesh Gundmi, a senior trainer in the month of Jul 2018.

6.      Capital Market awareness Programme was conducted on 9 Aug 2018 for final year BCom students by BSE-IPF.

Anti-drug awareness program was conducted.

Democracy and voting rights – Celebration of Voter’s day on 25 Jan 2019.

Save Girl Child awareness programme was conducted on 10 Aug 2018.

Plastic Prevention awareness programme was also conducted.

Swachh Bharat Abhiyan was conducted by NCC, NSS and Red Cross wings.

Dept of Health and Family Welfare, Udupi has conducted a district-level quiz and elocution competition on dangers of Tobacco on 25 Jan 2019.

World AIDS Day and Cancer awareness day were observed on 1 Dec 2018 by NCC wing.

Anti-Tobacco day and International day against drug abuse and illicit trafficking was observed on 4th Aug 2018 by NCC wing.

7.      Personality Empowerment Programme for lady students was conducted by FSL India, NGO on 10 Jan 2019. A Management fest ‘Grow and Glow’ was conducted to showcase the talents of undergraduate commerce students. Women and Self Reliance programme was conducted by women’s forum.

8.      Career Guidance programme was conducted for humanity students on 10 Mar 2019. Skill and Personality Development Programmes were conducted by NCC wing.

9.      Industrial visit by final year BCom students. Educational tour was organized to historical places by Dept of History. Dept of Economics conducted a project survey titled, “Stress during work of women workers in Cashew factory”.

10.  ‘Vanamahotsava’, Swami Vivekananda Yuva Saptaha Road Show programme, Cleaning Programme at Balkur Grama Panchayath, Swachhata Abhiyan, Save Girl Child campaign, International Coastal Cleanup day was observed at Kodi Beach, Kundapura were conducted by NCC and NSS wings.

11.   Four students of final BCom participated in one-day state level workshop on ‘Horizons of entrepreneurship’. Quiz competition was conducted by Sahyadri College of Engineering and Management and four teams were qualified for prizes. 20 NCC cadets participated in Yoga training. 3 NCC cadets attended Republic day camp held at Alvas College Moodbidri. 13 cadets have attended combined annual training camp held on 9th Oct 2018 at Alvas College Moodbidri. 30 NCC cadets participated in Weapons Training. 29 NSS Volunteers participated in Parishrama NSS fest held at Crossland College, Brahmavar. 2 NSS volunteers participated in Republic Day selection camp held at Mangalore.

12.  ‘Grow and Glow’ Management fest was organized on 15 Feb 2019. 20 teams of 7 members each participated in it.

13.  Moral and Retreat camp was organized in the college in collaboration with Shri Ramakrishna Ashrama, Mangalore on 16th Jan 2019.
