As our village, Basrur is a place of great history and culture, and a historical and folk museum was established in our college. We aimed to make the students know about a great heritage, local history, and folk culture. Basrur was a well-planned and developed port city that had its history during the medieval period. There is a great heritage left behind by the rulers of this land. The Historical and Folk Museum which is developed in our institution is an attempt to present some of the relics of ancient and medieval times. It is also an attempt to inculcate interest among our students in Indigenous folk culture of the local history. The Historical and Folk Indoor Museum was established in our  College with the objectives mentioned above. The Museum consists of various items related to the folk art Yakshagana,  Agriculture, and folk culture of this locality. Wooden statues were brought from Makkikatte, a place of historical and cultural importance, and various other locations. These wooden statues are peculiar in their structure identified and explained by great historians like Late. Dr. Gururaja Bhat. These statues are preserved in the museum. We have collected different materials representing the folk life and art of this region. An outdoor museum has been developed near the Library of our College by installing various stone inscriptions identified are excavated in Basrur. The majority of these stone inscriptions belong to the period of Vijayanagar and Keladi Nayakas.
