COLLEGE LIBRARY

The reference periodicals section is situated on the first floor of the Library building. While entering students should enter their name, and class Our college library is spacious and well-stocked. It has about 30,760 books. Subscription to the library automation software Easylib and books are issued/ returned on bar-coded borrower’s cards. Online Public Access Catalogue (OPAC) facility is available at the circulation desk at the entrance of the library. Users can reserve books and get such information, as to whom a book is issued when it is a due date, etc. Computers with broadband internet connection and a reprographic facility is available to the users in the library.

All the students are required to make the best use of the reading opportunity made available to them through the Reading Room & Library. Students are requested to treat Library books as a sacred trust and use them with great care.

The library will be kept open from 9-00 am. to 5-30 pm. on all working days except on Saturday. On Saturdays, the Library will be open from 9-00 am. to 1-30 pm. The Library includes Textbooks, a Reference, and a Periodical section & Book Bank. The library is kept open during the vacation also.

The library building was built at a cost of Rs.  7,88,826

TEXTBOOK SECTION

The text book section is situated in the ground floor of the building. The students may get the needed text books and other general books for home reading for one week and the date of returning of the book would be mentioned in the book issued. If the book is not returned on the date mentioned, the penalty of Re.1/- per day per book will be levied as an overdue charge. If a student does not return the book within a week after the due date, his/her name will be notified on the notice board, Even after the notification if he/she does not return the within a week after the due date, his/ her attendance in the class will be withheld and his/her name will be struck off from the attendance register. Books will be issued to the students of all classes on all working days.

 The students should maintain silence strictly, while they get the books at the issue counter, and while returning the books at the counter. The students should not gather and stand unnecessarily in front of the corridor and at the counter creating noisy disturbance in the library.

There are 2704 books in the Book Bank Scheme. In this scheme the books will be issued to SC/ST students with first preference and to the other students on merit basis. They can be retained for the full academic year. To review the condition of the books and they can be taken home again until the end of the academic year or the annual examination. For getting the books in this scheme the students should submit the application in the prescribed form. The selection of the students for getting the books will be made by the library committee.

REFERENCE SECTION

To obtain the name and signature of the students a “Gate Register” (Entrance Register) kept for the purpose. At the reference and periodicals section the students can get the needed text books and other general books like dictionaries, grammar books, encyclopaedia and question paper sets just for reference only. They should not carry them outside.

PERIODICALS SECTION

In the periodical section, Magazines and Journals subjects like History, Economics, Commerce, Management, Political Science & Literature are available. Students may utilize the magazines on submitting their identity cards.

Library as Learning Resource

Library Facility: The college library is open for students for reference and borrowing during all working days except Sundays and Holidays. Library kept open from 9.00 AM to 5.30 PM from Monday to Friday. On Saturday from 9.00 AM to 1.30 PM. The library is partially computerized in respect of Book Bank facility , purchase of books, catalogue and stock verification.

Library Advisory Committee

This committee constitute :                                                                                                                                  (1) Principal – chairperson

                              (2) Librarian

                           (3) Faculty members from various departments

                           (4) Student members from various courses.

Functions of Library Advisory Committee:

  • It discusses matters relating to library and its maintenance.
  • It is authorized to allocate library budget for various departments.
  • It is authorized to purchase various books and subscriptions to journals and magazines.
  • It allots books from book bank to needy students.

The Library Advisory Committee convenes two or three meetings during academic year.

 

Maintenance of College Library

The Librarian and staff take enough protective measures to give longevity for books. Book bonding and pest control measures are undertaken to enhance the life of the books. Stock verification committee is formed to verify the library books constituted every year by the Principal. The committee physically verifies the books and submits reports to the Principal recommending the books to be written off and for book binding. The report is also includes the books lost for which Principal takes appropriate action.
